Does your 9600 have weights on the front? I'd rather have a bit more tractor on the front than the minimum. I keep the brake pedals free to help turning in conditons like that just in case. The 86 is a bit light in the front on steeper slopes. Tractor has fluid now but when tire replacement time comes I am seriously considering radials with no fluid. That pull swather is heavy, and will really jerk you around if you aren't nice to it. Grass hay was sometimes better, sometimes worse as far as HP needed depending on type of grass. Has liquid in rear tires, so weighs about 13K.
The 9600 was about right in 3 ton alfalfa as far as weight and power. I've run a 1170 with a 9600 Ford and an 8100 JD. If you get in heavy crop and try to maintain some speed with our 16' Haybine (as I like to call them ) it will make the 4255 which I assume by feel has more than the factory 120 hp growl.
